Kathy Castro and Santana

The Santana Center's mission is to to promote, encourage and foster healthy interactions between horses and humans through education, training and outreach activities.

The Santana Center was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in Rhode Island in November 2004. It was named for a 14 year old saddlebred horse, Santana Satin & Gold, owned by Kathy Castro, president and founder of the Santana Center. Santana suffered a traumatic back injury while playing in the pasture and had to be euthanized. Kathy learned through interactions with her horse not only about being a horse "teacher," but also about true partnerships

The Santana Center was founded to help encourage the relationship between horses and humans. This includes sponsoring classes on horse care, equine-assisted therapy, leadership and personal development. Our ultimate goal is to see all horses receiving the best care from informed horse enthusiasts who are engaged in a true relationship with horses. With this in mind, we plan to arrange seminars and workshops on horses, horse care, training; facilitate equine assisted professional development; arrange opportunities for schools and other children's organizations to incorporate horses into their curriculum; rehabilitation of rescue horses.

Donations are greatly appreciated and can be given in a variety of ways. Click here to see how you can donate through buying and other ways to help our organization.
